Tbilisi City Hall Begins Accepting the Applications for the purpose of tuition funding of Fall Semester of the Academic Year of 2022-2023 for Socially Disadvantaged, Large Family Member and Disabled Students

Tuition Funding Program for Socially Disadvantaged Students

Tbilisi City Hall begins accepting the applications from the first of February to finance the tuition fees for the spring semester of the academic year of 2022-2023 for socially disadvantaged, large family member and disabled students.

Within the framework of the program, the financial support will be provided to a citizen of Georgia, a person registered on the territory of Tbilisi Municipality, who has been enrolled in the Georgian language training educational program, bachelor’s or master’s program, integrated bachelor’s or master’s degree teacher training program, integrated master's program in veterinary medicine, Graduate Medical/Dental Education Program or Doctoral Education Program in accordance with the procedure established by law, and is an active status student and registered with the Social Services Agency's Unified Database of Socially Disadvantaged Families with a rating point equal to or less than 150 000, and in the extract from the Unified Database of Socially Disadvantaged Families, the student’s place of residence is indicated the city of Tbilisi.

The amount of funding (no more than 2 250 GEL per year and no more than 1 125 GEL per semester) depends on the student's average academic achievement in the previous semester, namely:

More than 90 - 100 points – no more than 100% of the semester amount (1 125 GEL) for the students whose rating point in the Unified Database of Socially Disadvantaged Families is equal to or less than 150 000;

 

More than 70 - 90 points inclusive – no more than 100% of the semester amount (1 125 GEL) for the students whose rating point in the Unified Database of Socially Disadvantaged Families does not exceed 70 000, and no more than 70% of the semester amount (787.50 GEL) for the students whose rating point in the Unified Database of Socially Disadvantaged Families is more than 70 000 and less than or equal to 150 000;

Equal or less than 70 points – no more than 50% of the semester amount (562.50 GEL) for those students whose rating point in the Unified Database of Socially Disadvantaged Families is equal to or less than 150 000.

To receive funding, a student must submit the following documents to the Tbilisi City Hall:

  • Personal Statement;
  • Copy of ID card or copy of the passport of Georgian citizen;
  • Extract from the Unified Database of Socially Disadvantaged Families;
  • Certificate from a higher education institution, which should include information on student’s status and annual fees;
  • Academic achievement rate/extract issued by the higher education institution on the disciplines passed in the previous semester and grades;
  • In case of an IDP, a document on the place of temporary registration from the authorized administrative body;
  • Bank details/invoice of the higher education institution.

Within the framework of the program, students of the first semester will be financed with 50% of the semester amount (1125 GEL).

Applications will be accepted from September 1 of 2022, and will continue until November 30 inclusive (Address: 7 Shartava St., Chancellery of Tbilisi Municipality). Students can also submit applications at the service centers of Tbilisi District Boards or to the electronic platform: www.my.municipal.gov.ge (provided that special equipment required for electronic signature is available).

Financing the tuition fee for the fall semester of academic year 2022-2023 for disabled and large family member students

Tbilisi City Hall begins accepting the applications from the first of September to finance the tuition fees of fall semester of the academic year of 2022-2023 for socially disadvantaged, large family member and disabled students.

Students will be funded to study at all three academic levels (Bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees). The amount of funding is not more than GEL 2 250 per year, and not more than GEL 1 125 per semester, depending on the student's average academic achievement in the previous semester. Namely:

More than 90 - 100 points inclusive – 100% of the semester amount (1 125 GEL) for disabled and large family member students;

More than 70 - 90 points inclusive – 100% of the semester amount (1 125 GEL) for students with significant or severe disability status, and no more than 70% of the semester amount (787.50 GEL) for students from large families and students with moderately expressed disability status;

Equal or less than 70 points – no more than 70% of the semester amount (787.50 GEL) for a student with a severely or significantly expressed disability status, and no more than 50% (562.50 GEL) for students from large families and students with a moderately expressed disability status.

To receive funding, a student must submit the following documents to the Tbilisi City Hall:

  • Personal Statement;
  • Copy of ID card or copy of the passport of Georgian citizen;
  • Disability status or large family member status certificates obtained from the relevant administrative body;
  • Certificate from a higher education institution, which should include information on student’s status and annual fees;
  • Academic achievement rate/extract issued by the higher education institution on the disciplines passed in the previous semester and grades (except for the students of the first semester);
  • Bank details/invoice of the higher education institution.
  • Certificate of registration in Tbilisi (at the time of submitting the application, the student must have been registered in the territory of Tbilisi Municipality for the period of at least the last six months).

Within the framework of the program, students of the first semester will be financed with 50% of the semester amount (1125 GEL).
